Disciplinary Consequences for Vaping

The U.S. Surgeon General declared on December 18, 2018 youth e-cigarette use a national epidemic. In response to this declaration and in an effort to promote safety and good health for our students, Mineral Wells ISD will increase the severity of consequences for students found in possession of or use of vaping devices. Students who are found in possession of or who use a vape device at school or a school event will be assigned a Disciplinary Alternative Education Placement (DAEP) for a minimum of 20 days for first offense, depending on previous disciplinary record, and increasing for each subsequent offense. This change becomes effective immediately.
