Ben Schoonover joined Mineral Wells ISD team during the 2015/16 school year as Assistant Principal for Mineral Wells High School. He grew up in Weatherford, Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1994 and master's degree in 2001 from Tarleton State University.
Mr. Schoonover has taught 3rd and 4th grade at Weatherford ISD, 6th grade math in Fort Worth and 5th grade math at Millsap. He then returned to Weatherford ISD to be the Hall Jr. High Counselor for grades 7th-9th. Mr. Schoonover began an intervention program in 2001 for students from 1st through 12th grade at Weatherford ISD and served as the Safe and Drug Free School Director. He became the Director for Weatherford's Bridge program until 2013. During this time he was on the District Leadership Team and served as the lead for the Child in Crisis Team. During his last year in Weatherford he served as Assistant Principal for Sequin Elementary in Weatherford. His goal is to be a support for the entire high school community and for MWISD.
Mr. Schoonover married his wife, Donna, in 1983. She currently serves as Assistant Principal with her main emphasis in Career and Technology at Weatherford High School. They have one son, Toby, who graduated from the University of North Texas and a daughter n law, Chandler, who serves as a deaf Ed teacher in Weatherford.
